 CASUAL LEAVE  RULES (C L)

Instructions 1-6 of ANNEXURE VII of FR

Casual leave is a concession to enable Govt. servant in special circumstances to be absent from duty for short period, without such absence being treated as leave.

Maximum Casual Leaves in a calender year is 15 days. The unavailed Leave will be lapse at the end of calender year.

For women teachers can avail 5 days extra CLs in addition to 15 days CLs. (G.O.Rt.No.374, Edn.(Ser. V) Dept., Dt.16.03.96).

Casual Leave may be use combined with optional holidays or  Sundays or other public holidays, but total should not exceed 10 days.

CL cannot be combined with the regular leave / joining time, vacation

Casual Leave is not a right, 

Leave cannot be claimed as of right , when the exigencies of the public services so require , discretion to refuse or revoke of any discretion is reserved to the authority empowered to grant it ( FR 67).

A Govt servant may be granted C L for half a day either from morning or after noon session . it is not possible in case of half day schools.

Every govt servant should follow the Office / School timings,  If late attendance is more than 10 minutes, late attendance should be recorded in late Attendance register. For every three late attendees, one day CL must be confiscated.

The balance of late attendance in a year can be brought forward to next calendar year for forfeiting CL if there is no CL available in the previous year.

Govt Employee should not absent from duty without leave, According to the rules, leave or permission should be used with prior permission.

Head Master should be record all leaves in Leave register

The Head of the Office is competent to sanction leave.

A Register of CLs availed by every Govt. servant showing the CLs availed, purpose of availment and balance should be maintained.

  1. Sir I am confusing on CLs. I have taken leave Friday,Saturday, Monday,Tuesday. IN THIS SCENARIO, can we apply leave for Sunday?
